1. Information We Collect

Location Data TRAFFIK requests access to your device’s location to show traffic incidents and bridge wait times near you. Location is used only while the app is in use and is never stored on our servers.

Account Information When you create an account, we collect your email address and display name. This is stored securely via Firebase Authentication (Google).

Saved Places Places you save (Home, Work, etc.) are stored in your account so we can alert you when incidents happen nearby.

Community Reports When you submit a traffic report, your first name and report content are stored and visible to other users. Reports expire automatically after 24 hours.

Push Notification Token We store your device’s push notification token to deliver traffic alerts. This is linked to your account and deleted when you delete your account.

Usage Data We do not collect analytics or sell your data to third parties.

2. How We Use Your Information

To show you relevant traffic alerts for El Paso and the Juárez border crossings
To send push notifications for incidents near your saved places
To display community reports to other users
To deliver your morning briefing (if enabled)

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties.

We use the following third-party services:

Firebase (Google) — Authentication, database, and push notifications. Google Privacy Policy
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) — Public API for bridge wait times. No personal data is sent to CBP.
OpenStreetMap / Nominatim — Address search for saved places. Queries are not linked to your account.

4. Data Retention

Your account data is retained until you delete your account. Community reports are automatically deleted after 24 hours. You may delete your account at any time from the Account tab.

5. Children’s Privacy

TRAFFIK is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

6. Your Rights

You may:

Update your account information at any time
Delete your account and all associated data from the Account tab
Disable push notifications at any time in the app or your device settings

7. Location Data

Location is only accessed while using the app. We do not track your location in the background. Location data is never stored on our servers.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes through the app.
